Turning from a life of
destruction!
This
is a story about a warship quarreling with another over who
has the right-of-way.
This
is the transcript of an actual radio conversation between a US naval ship and
Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995. The Radio
conversation was released by the Chief of Naval Operations on Oct. 10, 1995.
Warship: Please change your direction 15 degrees to the North to avoid a
collision.
Other: Recommend that you divert
YOUR course 15 degrees to South to avoid a collision.
Warship: This is the Captain of a US
Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.
Other: No. I say again, you
divert YOUR course.
Warship: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT
CARRIER ENTERPRISE, WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US
NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!
Other: This is a lighthouse. Now
its Your call.!
Have
we ever found ourselves in this condition? We are lost and on a collision
course with eternal destruction. But God in his great grace and love tells us
to turn from a life of sin and destruction and turn to Him. But what happens?
Man rejects God's offer and says that he is going in the right direction.
"I am living my life the way that I want".
But
Jesus tells us different: Lu 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise perish.
In
the book of Acts we read about the life of the Apostle Paul, this was a man
that was fighting against the cause of Christ. Ac 9:1-2 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings
and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And
desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of
this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto
Jerusalem. Paul thought that he was doing the right thing. But we know that
he was on a road to destruction. Ac 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Pauls
was heading in the wrong direction, as are many today. But we know that Paul
made a change in his life and got saved in Acts ch.9 and began working for the
Lord. What a great work that it was, God used him to begin many churches and
saw many souls saved.
To
many today are like the warship, heading for a collision and refusing to turn.
Jesus is that lighthouse, sending the warning. He is offering salvation and
everlasting life. Lu 19:10 For the Son of
man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
The
lighthouses have saved many of sailors over the years, but only those that
heeded the warning. Jesus has saved many a souls from a life of destruction,
but only those that heeded to His warning!
