Personal Understanding
Many people of that day saw Christ, but they did not see Him for who He was. Many hear of Him today, but the do not experience a personal relationship with Him. Those that hear of Him, but never see Him are never changed. Those that see Him as Christ are never the same.
Her name was Sarah Dowerday. Born with only one leg, she received national attention several years ago for climbing to the top of Mt.Reiner in Seattle Washington. To document this fascinating human-interest story, a CBS camera crew went along. When she finally reached the snow capped peak they ask her how she felt: "Once you have experienced the peak, your life is never the same."
Friends, once you have come to the point that you truly can echo the words of Peter: Thou art the Christ the son of the living God, your life will never be the same. Ask the woman at the well, ask Mary Magdeline,
ask Paul, ask John Wesley, ask Charles Colson, ask somebody in this church.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Many need to experience Salvation through Christ. 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Jesus said, "Who do you say that I am?" Discover the answer to that and you will discover the answer to life. Notice the words that Jesus spoke to Mary the sister of Martha. Joh 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. Her life was forever changed because she experienced the Salvation of Christ.
Notice that ending of our verse today as Jesus spoke with Peter: Mt 16:17-18 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Peter did not learn this of mans teaching, but through a personal experience with Christ. This rock is Jesus! God bless you is my prayer. Let me say in closing, I appreciate you reading my articles.
