BUSY

I knelt to pray, but not for long; I had too much to do --

Must hurry off and get to work, for bills would soon be due.

And so I said a hurried prayer, and jumped up off my knees;

My Christian duty now was done, my soul could be at ease.

All through the day I had no time to speak a word of cheer,

Not time to witness for my Lord; they'd laugh at me, I feared.

And when before the Lord I came, I stood with downcast eyes.

Within His hand He held a book-- it was the Book of life!

God looked into his book and said, "your name I cannot find;

I once was going to write it down, but never found the time!

Do we find our lives like this poem? Do we find that summer is here, we just do not have as much time as we once had for God and Church? I wonder sometimes what life would be like today if God were more like you and me, would he be faithful to answer prayer when we had a need? How would we react to God if the next time we went to pray, God would say to us that he was busy. If God would say, " Come back next week or when summer was over and maybe I will have the time." I think that we would be very upset with the Lord. I think that churches would be in an uproar, I think that it would be a very big deal. So why do we not think that God would be upset with those that seem to become to busy for him? I am reminded of the story in the bible of the invitation to the great supper. Lu 14:18-20 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. I read something once that went like this. "If your to busy for God, then your too busy!" Years ago I was out visiting a lost husband. He had come a few times to church and would get under great conviction because he had never been saved. Everytime I would go a visit him he would tell me some reason why he could not come. Most of the time he was doing something else. But this one-day he had ran out of reasons that he could not come, so the only thing that he could tell me, " the lights were too bright!" I remember that one lady told me a week before the service, that she would not be there because she would be sick.

But amazingly that Sunday evening she must have been Healed at Walmart, because she almost ran over me at a sale rack! Some folks seem to be too busy for God, but not to busy when something they really want to do is coming up. As one preacher once said, "You may not take time to live for God, but you will take time to die!" When that time comes will you be ready? Or will you have been to busy? Summer is here and times are busy, but please give God and your family the time that they deserve. You take care of them and they will take care of you! God bless you is our prayer.
